Why Traintuitive
Most online coaching follows the same model. The coach inputs your plan for the week, sends it through, checks in occasionally, and adjusts if something goes badly wrong.
If you're a self-sufficient client just looking for someone better placed than you to set your workouts and keep you more accountable then this model can work. 'Can' because in the instance that you experience a niggle or injury that worries you, your plan stops and your coach tells you to go to a physio. Suppose you pay £100 per month for your programme as it is, if you go to see a physio about your niggle, that month just became £160+, and unless your physio specialises in injury management, you'll likely receive the wrong advice from them too. That in itself would make that appointment largely a waste of money, and for every day that you're not following your programme or getting appropriate updates made by your coach, you're losing £3.33 per day from the £100 you've spent for coaching that month. This is the reality for a self-sufficient client. It's a lot more expensive than you think.
Now consider what a more involved coaching relationship actually does to that equation. Your coach knows how every session of the week went because they asked you and you told them. You flagged the session that felt to your coach, they spoke to the injury management specialist and your programme got adjusted relative to the specialists advice. Because the niggle got picked up immediately, it wasn't ignored due to lack of knowledge and therefore doesn't become an injury that sidelines you for months. You have the confidence that any actions to take are the right ones, and that you are prescribed things that will prevent that niggle from returning, and you have all of that because you are being treated by an expert.
The cost of getting it wrong, in time, in physio bills, in weeks of lost training and not truly knowing how to get back on track, is in almost every case higher than the cost of getting it right from the start.
The programme moves around your reality.
Whilst the weekly schedule and session sections in the app are essential, without knowing habits like how well you slept and your stress levels etc. those sections have little to no value. If your stress levels are through the roof and you're not sleeping very well, then energy management becomes the focus for your coach. The metabolic cost and recovery periods of doing a hard session when your body is filled with cortisol, are far greater than the value that session is supposed to add.
Data is a tool. Your body is the source of truth.
The fitness industry has spent the last decade telling athletes to trust the numbers. Heart rate zones. Power outputs. Pace targets. And those things have value we use them too. Those data points are built into the app.
However, that certainty that a lot of people now place on the data over their bodies, means that they push through sessions their body is asking them to ease off. They override clear signals because the data says otherwise. Over time, they lose the ability to read themselves at all, and become entirely dependent on a device to tell them how training is going.
At Traintuitive, data is one input. Effort, respiratory rate, and feel are the verification layer. When they match the data, great. When they don't, we trust the effort. We use this multi-point reference as it provides a more complete picture of what's actually happening in the body. And of course the ability to read your body is a skill that benefits you ten fold from a training point and just a general well-being point long term too.
Niggles aren't an interruption, they're part of the process.
Go back to that £160 month. The physio who doesn't specialise in what you need, the days off training, the programme that pauses and waits. That's the standard experience. It's accepted as normal because most people haven't seen an alternative.
At Traintuitive, the alternative is built in from the start.
Before your programme begins, you complete an injury and performance screening through the app. That goes directly to Brad, who reviews it and advises your coach before a single session is written. Pre-existing limitations, areas to load carefully, and things to monitor are all of it is accounted for from day one, not discovered weeks in when something flares up.
If something does come up mid-programme, it goes straight to Brad the same day. He assesses it, advises on it, and coordinates with your coach immediately. The programme adjusts around what your body actually needs.
Why not just use a cheaper coach on TrainingPeaks?
There are capable coaches on TrainingPeaks who charge less. If all you want is a programme delivered through an app and occasional check-ins, that might be enough... (until it isn't).
TrainingPeaks is a generic platform used by thousands of coaches across every discipline. What you get depends entirely on the individual using it: their availability, their attention, and whether they're genuinely adjusting your programme based on real feedback or just sending next week's block on schedule. You can't tell from the outside.
The Traintuitive app is built around a specific way of coaching. The screening, the week-by-week build, the check-ins, the habit tracking. These things are the infrastructure of a true, great relationship between coach and athlete.
And of course the rehab integration doesn't exist on TrainingPeaks at all. There's no screening before you start, no specialist in the loop when something comes up, no same-day coordination between coach and rehab. You'd be finding a physio separately and paying for both independently. As above it seems cheap but in reality it isn't.
Who this is for.
Athletes who are serious about training but done with approaches that grind them down, don't fit their life, or leave them reliant on a watch to tell them how they feel.
People who want to get genuinely fitter, stay out of the physio's office, and come out the other end understanding their own body better than when they went in.
It's not for everyone. If you want a cheap plan and minimal contact, we're not the right fit and we'd rather you knew that now.
But if you want coaching that's actually responsive to you — with a rehab specialist embedded from day one and a coach who's genuinely in your corner week to week — it's hard to find better value at this level.
If you want to talk it through before committing to anything, fill in the enquiry form and Lew will get back to you directly. No sales pitch. Just a straight conversation about whether it's the right fit.
